When KLA decided several years ago to open a second North American headquarters, we began our search for a new home that would boast a strong pipeline of engineering talent, high quality of life and lower cost of living than the Bay Area. Though we considered hundreds of cities, KLA ultimately landed in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
KLA is now happy to announce that we have surpassed 200 hires in Ann Arbor. This passionate new community of creative problem solvers is already hard at work from their homes and in our temporary facility following our safety protocols. Meanwhile, progress on the construction of our permanent building has been swift! Check out the aerial video below of its steel structure, now proudly standing on site, marking another exciting milestone in our fast-paced expansion in Michigan.
We are also happy to announce that the Business Intelligence Group has named KLA a finalist in the prestigious 2020 Sustainability Awards program, which honors people, teams and organizations who have made sustainability an integral part of their business.
For over 40 years, KLA has embraced initiatives designed to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and that of hundreds of vendors and suppliers in our supply chain. This deep commitment to environmental health and sustainability is a core tenet of our values at KLA, and is demonstrated in the construction of our new Ann Arbor campus – a major corporate undertaking that is helping pave the way for future growth and innovation.
The Ann Arbor site is being developed via an end-to-end, low-impact design (LID) approach, prominently featuring advanced environmental protection and energy-efficiency. Interior highlights include the widespread use of green and sustainable materials and low flow plumbing fixtures. All HVAC systems, crucial to the success of the cleanroom, employ energy recovery wheels and other efficient measures.
KLA is proud of the progress we have made with the new Ann Arbor facility and the growth of our Midwest community, and is honored by the recognition from the BIG Sustainability Awards. We remain dedicated to reducing the overall environmental impacts of the global semiconductor industry and look forward to growing our presence in Ann Arbor.
