This week we set our sights on Dasha Negri, recently appointed leader of the Optical Metrology Division’s Advanced Development Team in Migdal HaEmek, Israel. Dasha joined us 16 years ago, while she was a student in the optics department at the Technion. There, she collaborated on her final graduate project with her lecturer, one of KLA’s Principle Scientists. When a student position in optics opened at KLA, she applied and started her career with us. After finishing her degree in physics, she joined on a full-time basis.
Dasha enthusiastically explains: “The heart of our metrology tools is high-end optics and advanced algorithms. We measure displacement between different structures on the wafer up to sub-nanometer accuracy, far below the optical diffraction limit. Our technology enables us to support our customers’ ever-increasing needs to reduce the dimensions of their integrated circuits (ICs) while keeping a production-worthy yield.”
Today, Dasha manages a group of research scientists in the fields of physics, electro optics and data science. She explains that beyond being multi-disciplinary, the best part about working at KLA is the stimulating environment. “I’m constantly exposed to new challenges.
“Many times, we are conducting research to help solve the complicated challenges we face where high uncertainty is involved. This really energizes me every single working day. I storm on the challenges and prove to myself, day after day, that we can solve them and provide the solutions for our customers’ needs.”
