KLA has been actively growing our second U.S. headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan over the last two years. In addition to exciting progress on the construction of the campus, we are pleased to announce we recently exceeded 260 hires!
Across the board, our Ann Arbor employees are curious and creative problem solvers who span disciplines including engineering (algorithm, software, hardware, mechanical, optics, etc.), supply chain, procurement, IT, finance, legal and HR. Although the majority of our staff remain working at home for now, to support a number of important projects, our temporary lab space and cleanroom is up and running with vigilant safety protocols in place.
As the campus takes shape and the team continues to grow, we remain dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity. Each and every employee can show up in Ann Arbor as their most authentic self, in turn producing their best and most innovative work, solidifying this campus as a hub of technological excellence.

The New Campus Takes Shape
Construction is speeding along! A majority of our workforce is operating safely at home while they await the much-anticipated opening of the new campus this fall.
A six-story building with a monumental atrium anchors the Ann Arbor campus. Within the building are a cafeteria with a coffee shop and fitness center with onsite classes for KLA employees. A multilevel parking structure preserves many of the trees on site, while a woodland trail around the complex invites employees to get outside and enjoy the Michigan air.
The campus will house lab space and a 51,000 square foot cleanroom—one of the largest in Michigan.
Building Our Ann Arbor Team and Competencies
In the last month, we exceeded 260 hires for our Ann Arbor campus and are currently seeking engineers specializing in algorithm, software, hardware, mechanical, optics, as well as supply chain, procurement, finance, and HR professionals. Executives MaryBeth Wilkinson, chief legal officer, Carie Torrence, VP, global employment law, Laurie Saims, VP, chief information security officer, Susan Wagner, VP, global facilities and real estate, and Sharrice Wilson, VP, total rewards, have all joined KLA to lead their teams from the Ann Arbor headquarters.
The artificial intelligence team is also growing and establishing itself as a center of excellence serving products across our global portfolio. Based in Ann Arbor, this group is spearheading innovative efforts to extend the application of AI in KLA’s product roadmaps.
To foster workplace connections and support team building among new hires during these unique circumstances, a lunch program throughout the summer encouraged small groups to gather safely outside. This initiative will pick back up in the summer months with a tent outside KLA’s temporary office.
We continue to support employees balancing home schooling and caregiving with their ‘day job’ by providing well-being programs specifically around managing stress, anxiety and feelings of isolation. This includes rolling out training programs to help managers work with remote teams effectively and an ongoing employee assistance program to support employee mental health and well-being.
Additionally, we provide reimbursement for tutoring and childcare expenses, as well as back-up childcare through Care.com. Extra paid leave has been offered to allow employees to spend more time helping their children through online schooling and these difficult times.
As we grow in Ann Arbor, we are expanding our Mosaic multi-dimensional employee resource group (ERG) for Inclusion & Diversity. Mosaic is scaling to include individual ERG chapters working with colleagues around the world. We are committed to building a culture of inclusion and workplace diversity to better reflect the communities we serve. We believe that by working and leading inclusively, we will attract a diverse pipeline of talent to KLA. More on that to come!
